Target Audience:

This activity was developed for primary care physicians and health care professionals in the primary care field who manage patients with HCV and wish to improve standard practice care.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify patients who should receive HCV screening
  • Recognize reasons for patient loss to follow-up
  • Propose ways in which to improve patient retention
  • Discuss the association of HCV with injected drug use
  • List the barriers to HCV treatment
  • Review ways to improve access to care
  • Describe the importance of providing healthcare services to patients who inject drugs
  • Compare the efficacy and safety of treatment regimens
  • Demonstrate how to initiate appropriate evidence-based treatments
  • Discuss any additional updates in the field of HCV and PWID
