Abstract
Nodular Regenerative Hyperplasia (NRH) is histopathologic condition that may lead to the development of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension. This condition is characterized by regeneration of hepatocyte nodules in the absence of advanced liver fibrosis.1NRH has been traditionally considered a benign process, with only two cases previously reported of NRH predating the development of hepatocellular carcinoma.2 In this study, we report 4 additional cases of primary liver malignancies identified in a large cohort of patients with NRH, including 2 cases of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
