Abstract
Patients with renal impairment prior to LT have an increased risk of end-stage renal disease and post-LT mortality[1]. Since the introduction of the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease, the number of recipients with renal impairment prior to LT has significantly increased. This was paralleled by a concomitant increase of simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation (SLKT)[2] and severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) after LT[3].
