Abstract
In the U.S. household population aged 18 years (2011-2016), prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) was 0.36% overall, and was highest in non-Hispanic Asians (3.4%). Among adult HBsAg-carriers, 42% (95% confidence interval: 29%-56%) had antibodies to hepatitis D virus (anti-HDV). Routine anti-HDV testing should be performed for HBsAg-carriers.
